Completing a Placement Test

Placement in One Minute Reader is designed to guide a student to the right level without needing teacher intervention.

Students can read a story from a chosen level, and the application will give them a recommendation based on their performance.

Page One

The student selects at which level they want to test.

The levels range from E to 5.

1. Select a level from the list.
2. Click Next to go to the next page.

Page Two

The second page displays the placement story for the selected level.

Similar to the Cold Read step, the student starts the timer and reads the story.

1. Click Start Timing to start the 60-second timer.
2. Read the story until complete or the timer finishes.
   1. If the story reading is done before the timer finishes, click the Finished button at the end of the story.
   2. If the timer finishes before the story is done, click the last word read.
3. Click Next to go to the next page.

Page Three

The third page of the placement test displays the results of the test.

The student will hear and see a recommendation based on their performance.

Recommendations include:

• This level might not be challenging enough. Try reading the story from one level higher.
• This level seems like a good fit.
• This level might be too challenging. Try reading the story from one level lower.
