Adding Students

Students must be added to the application, affiliated with a school, and assigned a license and lead teacher before they can work in Read Live. 


Any staff members other than Read Live Assistants can add students to Read Live.

How to

  1. From the navigation menu, choose Student Administration (for Account Administrators or School Coordinators) or Student Setup (for Teachers).
    Account Administrators and School Coordinators should then click the Student Setup tile.
    The Students page opens.
  2. Click the Add Student button.

  3. On the Student Details page, enter the student's first and last names.

  4. Set the student's status. (This must be "Active" for the student to work in Read Live.)
  5. Optionally, set a student ID. (This could be the identifier used in your student management system, for example. Note that it is not the same as the User ID used to log into the student module.)
  6. Select the student's grade.
  7. Choose the school for the student. (Note that if the user is affiliated with a school, she or he can only add students in that school. Users who see all schools in the account can choose between those schools.)
  8. Select the homeroom for the student. If the student does not have a homeroom, select "Unassigned."
  9. Enter the student's user ID. All user IDs must be unique within your Read Live account.
  10. Enter, and then verify, the student's password. Note that student passwords are not case sensitive.
  11. Under the License area, you can use the License this student? menu to assign the new student a license. If you do so, you also need to select a staff member under Lead Teacher
    It is necessary for students to have a license and lead teacher in order to work in Read Live.
  12. If appropriate assign the student access to Word Warm-ups Live and/or One Minute Reader Live.
  13. Optionally, enter parent and/or guardian contact information.
  14. Click Save & Close or Save & Add Another.
