Communicating with parents

It’s important to communicate with parents about what programs students are using. Depending on your situation, you may even want to enlist parents to support students directly at home. Whatever method you choose, sharing student expectations with parents will help students be more successful.

If you are enrolling parents as Read Live Assistants and asking them to conduct pass activities, they will need a degree of training before they can effectively take on these responsibilities. The Overview for Assistants video helps explain the steps of Read Naturally Live and provides guidance for Read Live Assistants as they support students. The Students’ Guide to Read Naturally Live video series is a great resource to share with parents. Although designed to teach students how to use the program, it can serve as a quick and efficient way to inform parents of the steps of the program and expectations for students during each stage.
