For the first time in 25 years, Read Naturally founder Candyce Ihnot has moved her reading lab to a new school. In this post, Candyce describes setting up for the first day, training the students, and finally seeing that first bit of magic when they start making progress.

In this post, Candyce describes the important elements that happen before starting Read Naturally Live with students: setting up the lab, selecting, and placing students.

Since November, Read Live, Read Naturally ME, and GATE have been used with a large number of ELL students at Whittier Elementary. The results thus far have been remarkable. RTI educator Lisa Lawrence was eager to share them.

Here at Read Naturally, we love hearing a great success story! We are always so thankful to educators who take the time to reach out to us and share their excitement and the excitement of their students. Recently, Susan Kruger, educator and author, sent us a story about her son:

Common Core State Standards tell us that students need to be given challenging text. I wasn't always sure this was the case for struggling readers; however, I have found it to be very true with my students. In fact, early in the year last year, one of our fourth grade students, Nick, finished all the stories in level 5.0. He wasn’t ready to exit the program since his fluency and comprehension scores were not where we needed them to be, but we were concerned that the stories in level 5.6 would be too challenging.

We always love hearing from Read Naturally customers, and we especially love hearing about your students’ successes! Sherrie G. from Houston, TX, recently shared how she successfully helped her granddaughter learn to read using Read Naturally Masters Edition and the video chat program Skype.

Ginger Rogers is one of our dynamic and inspirational presenters. She received her master’s degree in education from Texas A&M University and has worked as both a teacher and an instructional coach. She has also served as a mentor to undergraduate pre-service teachers and has published articles on reading assessment and reading fluency. For the past three years, Ginger has taught summer school at the Holy Cross Anglican School (HCAS) in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize. She shares some of her experiences with you, our readers, below.
