What is the best way to ensure your Read Live students don't lose the progress they made in reading this year? Have them work in One Minute Reader Live over the summer! In school, the majority of Read Live students are working in Read Naturally Live. All of these students also have free access to One Minute Reader Live—an effective and fun summer reading tool.

Back when Read Naturally founder Candyce Ihnot would present at full-day seminars, she would often start by telling a story about her youngest child, Tommy. One day, Tommy came home from elementary school and angrily declared, “I hate school.” Tommy was the son of two schoolteachers—his declaration was basically blasphemous! When Candyce asked him to explain why he hated school, his lip started to quiver. He told his mom about independent reading time. “She doesn’t even know,” he said of his teacher, “I can’t read.”

National Reading Awareness Month is an annual event held in the United States during the month of March. The purpose of this event is to promote the importance of reading and literacy, and to encourage people to make reading a part of their daily lives.

Over the past couple of years, we've made several enhancements to Read Live. We've added new programs, new content, and new features with the intention of helping as many students as possible succeed. All Read Live users have access to these enhancements at no additional cost. Are you aware of everything available to you as a Read Live user?

What kind of learning can happen on the first day of school? Naturally, students will learn who you are, the rules of your classroom, and where to put their materials. Our hope is that they will do some effective work toward their literacy goals too. Is it realistic to expect this on day one? With One Minute Reader Live, it certainly is!

What is the best way to spend a cozy winter break? We may be biased here at Read Naturally, but we believe it's time spent with loved ones and good books. Many students will be motivated to curl up on their own with a favorite book, while many others have not yet reached this point. Regardless of where students are on their reading journey, there are countless ways to incorporate reading into the break.

The 2021-22 school year is fast approaching, and our curriculum and development teams are hard at work making important improvements to Read Live. We’ve added several features and enhancements in the past few weeks. Here are some of the most important updates in the most recent Read Live releases:

It’s time for the annual Read Naturally Top 10 Blog Posts! The 2020-21 school year brought many challenges for teachers, students, and parents. Our goal at Read Naturally is to support educators and help students make great progress. In the past year, we’ve added three additional programs to Read Live and introduced several new features to support distance learning. As you can see, these new programs and features dominated the list for top blog posts for the 2020-21 school year. The introduction of Word Warm-ups Live and phonics-related content was especially popular. But what was at the top of the list? You’ll have to keep reading to find out!

Read Live includes four highly effective instructional programs designed to deliver measurable results for struggling and developing readers of all ages. We recently recorded five new webinars, providing an overview of Read Live as well as the basics for each of the four programs: Read Naturally Live, Word Warm-ups Live, One Minute Reader Live, and Read Naturally Live—Español. Check out these 30-minute presentations for a better understanding of Read Live and additional details on each of the four instructional programs.

The school-to-home connection is more important than ever. The need for distance learning over the past year has created challenges for teachers, parents, and students. And, as the school year ends, we don’t want our learners to experience a “summer slide.” By having parents as partners, students who have been working in Read Live at school can have more support and continuity in their instruction. We want to share some tools and resources to help your students take advantage of reading opportunities with Read Live, even during the summer months, from home.
