If you’ve been following along with our recent news announcements, you’ve learned we’re very excited about the release of our new phonics program, Word Warm-ups Live. We’re also committed to helping educators everywhere begin to use this highly effective program with their students. We’ve developed several free resources to answer all of your questions about assessment, placement, implementation, and everything in between. Be sure to check out this recent blog post, Useful Resources for a Successful Word Warm-ups Live Implementation, which links to all of these resources.

Striving readers need systematic phonics instruction. Word Warm-ups Live was developed to help students improve word recognition, learn to use word patterns to decode rapidly, read words with featured patterns in connected text, decode increasingly difficult phonetically regular words, and reinforce featured phonics skills through spelling.

Distance-learning fatigue has likely set in for everyone by now. As summer break draws closer, it can feel even harder for teachers and students to stay focused. But we owe it to our students—now more than ever—to make these last few weeks count. Allow the Read Naturally team help you out with a bunch of free resources. These resources can easily be sent to students to complete at home.

In these uncertain times, students everywhere will benefit from familiarity and consistency. We are so grateful that our most popular program, Read Live, can be used in a distance-learning model to provide this kind of support.

At Read Naturally, we believe all educators should have access to free, high-quality training in our programs—and in reading instruction in general. This is why we offer several free webinars every year, covering a range of topics from fluency research to specific program tips. Educators are invited to be live participants at these webinars as they occur; otherwise, recordings can be accessed anytime in the Knowledgebase section of our website.

To advance literacy worldwide over the next decade, what topics do educators need to focus on? The International Literacy Association (ILA) recently put this question out to 1,443 literacy professionals from 65 countries and territories in the 2020 What’s Hot in Literacy survey. With the ultimate goal of better outcomes for students, this reputable report highlights the most critical topics in literacy and identifies areas that need more support.

Winter break is a couple days away. It’s almost time to celebrate! Before you release your students to make mischief, merriment and hopefully lots of hot chocolate, we urge you to ask them just one question: “Who will read with you over break?”

You’ve reached that point in September when the school year no longer feels quite so new. Students are settling into routines, patterns are emerging, and everyone is feeling a bit more comfortable. By this point, many educators have already identified or are in the process of identifying which students need additional reading support. It’s the perfect time of year to familiarize yourself and your students with Read Naturally Live—the most effective online tool to help your students crush their reading goals this year.

In order to continue improving in reading comprehension, students need to continually expand their vocabularies. As much as teachers might like to explicitly teach them all the words they need to learn, this just isn’t realistic. Students need to learn strategies for figuring out new words on their own.

We love providing educators with free resources. Not only do these materials help struggling students, but they tend to make teachers’ lives easier. In recent weeks, we’ve shared free resources to help students correct common spelling errors as well as free resources to help students master visually confusing letters. This week, we’re sharing three free supplemental resources for students working in Read Live and Encore.
