Checking System Requirements

Any computer from which you, your staff members, or your students access Read Live must conform to certain minimum requirements. The list of requirements can be accessed from the Read Live Help page (www.readnaturally.com/read-live-help).

Check the system requirements to make sure the program will run properly on each computer that students or staff members will use to run Read Live. These requirements change periodically. When first using Read Live, when upgrading or changing your browser, or if you experience any difficulty running Read Live, begin by checking the system requirements.

To check system requirements:

  1. On the Read Live Home page, click Check System Requirements.
  2. Under Audio Test, click Click here.
  3. If you can hear the audio, click Yes. If you cannot hear the audio, click No.
  4. Under Meets Requirement, look to see if any requirements have not been met.
  5. If you have requirements that have not been met, click Display system requirements for Read Live to determine what changes need to be made.
  6. Once you have resolved any problems, check the requirements by clicking Check System Requirements again.

  • The student module is used by students. Students log in from the Student Login page.
  1. Open a browser, and go to the Read Live Home page.
  2. Choose one of these options:
    1. To log in to the staff member module, click Staff Member and continue to log in:
      1. On the Staff Member Login page, enter your account ID (from the account activation email), user ID, and password. Then click Log In.
        1. If you are an Account Administrator or School Coordinator, a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) dialog opens at your first login, and a 4-digit code is sent to the email address associated with your User ID.
        2. Enter the MFA code in the dialog to enter the Staff Member Module.
Note: Selecting the Remember me on this computer checkbox limits the number of times you will be asked to enter a MFA code when logging into the Staff Member Module. Do not select this checkbox if the computer you are logging into is used by students.

      1. On the Student Login page, students should enter their Account ID, User ID, and password.
After logging in, students with access to more than one Read Live component will see a Landing Page that allows them to choose which application to open.

Notes

  • For new accounts, check your account activation email for your account ID and the main account contact's user ID and temporary password.

Exiting the Software

From any page in Read Live, click Log Out to exit the software. You return to either the Staff Member login page or the Student login page. To return to the main Read Live Home page, click the home icon Home icon in the upper left-hand corner of either login page.

Note

  • Both students and staff members should always click Log Out when leaving the Read Live application rather than simply closing the browser window or tab.
Clicking Log Out ensures that students are properly logged out of the software, and prevents students from working in each other's stories. It allows staff members to monitor and manage student activity in the program more effectively.

Sorting and Filtering

Sorting and filtering the entries on a list can make it easier to find students and staff members you need to access. Use filters to narrow a list to entries that meet certain criteria. This can be especially helpful if you have many students, and need to locate a particular set.

  1. Click the name of a column to sort by that column. Click the name again to sort in the opposite direction.
  2. Click the filter icon to the left of each column's name to narrow a list using that column. You can choose various ways to narrow the list, including showing only entries that contain the text you enter.
  3. Click Apply to update the list using your criteria.
  4. Click the same filter icon again and click Reset to stop narrowing the list by that column.

Note

  • You can apply more than one filter at a time. For example, a teacher who has students at more than one school might filter by the School column and then the Grade column, allowing him or her to review the work of 4th graders at a single school.
  • Any sorting and filters you apply on a page will remain in effect until you clear them or log out of the program. If you narrow a list to review only specific students and then want to see the whole list again, click the filter icon and then click Reset.

Searching by Personal Group

Personal groups are a quick, efficient way to access groups of students. Only you can see your personal groups.

To search by a personal group:

  1. On a page with a list of students, click the Search by Group menu on the upper right.
  2. Choose one of your personal groups from the list in the menu. The list of students on the page updates to show only students from your personal group.

Note

  • Any other filters applied to a page are applied alongside a search by group. For example, if you have searched by a personal group, you could then also filter the list by Grade to see only 3rd graders in the group.
  • When you apply a group, only students in the group who would normally be displayed on a page will be listed.  For example, the Read Naturally Live page lists only licensed students. When you apply a group on that page, only the licensed students in the group are listed.
  • Personal groups are selected from the Choose students to view search feature on the Student Activity page.
