SE v2.0: Client can't access SE server—server IP addresses don't match

The IP address specified in the SE client's preferences file must match the the server IP address specified in the SE client's network settings. Otherwise, errors will occur and the SE clients will be unable to access the SE server components.

To correct the IP address in the preferences file for Mac OS clients:
  1. From the SE client log-in screen, choose Network Settings from the Network menu.
  2. Write down the server IP address, and then click Cancel.
  3. Open the folder Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/ReadNaturally. (On a Mac OS 9 client, open the folder Macintosh HD/System Folder/ReadNaturally.)
  4. Double-click the file RNSEPrefs to open it in TextEdit.
  5. Change the server IP address to match the IP address you wrote down in step 2.
  6. Save and close the RNSEPrefs file.
To correct the IP address in the preferences file for Windows clients:
  1. From the SE client log-in screen, choose Network Settings from the Network menu.
  2. Write down the server IP address, and then click Cancel.
  3. Open the folder My Computer\Local Disk (C:)\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ReadNaturally. (If you do not see the Application Data folder, select Folder Options from the Tools menu, select the View tab, select Show hidden files and folders under Advanced Settings, and then click OK.)
  4. Open the RNSEPrefs in a text editor such as Notepad (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad).
  5. Change the server IP address to match the IP address you wrote down in step 2.
  6. Save and close the RNSEPrefs file.
