Webinar Video: School-to-home connection: parents as partners

Presented April 22, 2020 by Ben Weisner, Senior Relationship Manager.

As educators are adapting to new distance-learning requirements, the school-to-home connection is more important than ever. We want students to continue to make progress toward becoming proficient readers. By having parents as partners, students who have been working in Read Naturally Live at school can have continuity in their instruction by continuing in the program from home. And, students who are new to Read Live can be placed and trained remotely to work in the program.

Distance learning creates some challenging issues (e.g., communicating with parents, training parents as “assistants,” motivating students, etc.). In this webinar, we share some tools and resources to help you. We also review how to monitor each student’s data remotely from the Staff Member module—to confirm placement, adjust story options, and raise a student’s goal or level to accelerate progress.

And as the school year ends, we don’t want our students to experience “summer slide.” Over the summer, students can be encouraged to continue learning through One Minute Reader and Splat-O-Nym, two additional Read Naturally programs that are ideal for home use.
