Read Live Tip #2: Are you checking students’ initial placement for several stories?

Read Naturally recommends that you check each student’s initial placement during the Cold Timing step (for the first few stories). Make sure that:

• the student’s cold-timing scores are about 30 less than the goal for students in grades 1-4 and about 40 less for students in grades 5 and higher
• the student can reach his or her goal after 3-10 practices
• the hot timing score is at or just above the goal
• the student answers most questions correctly
