How to make sure a Windows server is configured to use a static IP address

The computer that hosts the SE server software must be configured to use a static IP address (not a dynamically assigned IP address).

To make sure a Windows server is configured to use a static IP address:

  1. From the server computer, select Start > Control Panel and then double-click Network Connections.
  2. Locate the icon for your local area network connection, right-click it, and choose Properties.
  3. From the General tab, choose Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
  4. From the General tab, make sure Use the following IP address is selected and that an IP address is specified.
  5. If an IP address is not specified, contact your school or district's technical support department.
