Server Requirements for SE 2.1 Network Plus Installations

To use the Read Naturally SE 2.1 Network Plus version, the server must meet the following minimum hardware and software requirements:

  • Windows 2000, XP, Server 2000, Server 2003, Server 2008*, Vista, or Windows 7; or Mac OS X or OS X Server 10.3 or later
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 2 GB disk space
  • CD drive
  • TCP/IP network
  • Static IP address
  • If you have the Windows firewall turned on, you must open port 23460 for Read Naturally SE.

*The 64-bit version of Windows Server 2008 is supported for use with Read Naturally SE v2.1.x. However, some customers have had problems with Read Naturally SE not working unless it is installed in the C:\Program Files (x86) folder, which is intended for 32-bit applications. Yet other customers and Read Naturally have had success installing the Read Naturally SE server component in other locations (e.g., D:\Apps). So if you have the 64-bit version Windows Server 2008 and have problems, try installing the Read Naturally SE Server components in the C:\Program Files (x86) folder. Also, note that the Windows Firewall is turned on by default in Windows Server 2008. Therefore, you will need to specify a TCP exception for port 23460 if you intend to keep Windows Firewall turned on (recommended).

Notes:

  • Read Naturally does not support or recommend the use of our software products in a wireless network environment. More information
  • A web browser is used to view and print the SE 2 reports. You may experience problems printing the graphs in the reports from Macintosh computers, depending upon the browser and Mac OS X version you are using.
