How to back up and restore individual school databases in a district license version of SE Network Plus

To selectively back up individual schools in your district database:

  1. Log in to the SE database utilities program (rnse_DBUtilities) with the district administrator password. If you do not remember the password, you can retrieve it using the District Admin utility.
  2. Once you are logged in to the database utilities program, hold down Shift and Control keys and then click Create Backup. The following prompt displays:
  3. This action will perform a backup for an individual school or schools. Do you wish to continue?
  4. Click Yes. You should now see a list of the schools that have been set up in SE.
  5. Select the schools you want to back up.
    • To select multiple schools that are listed together, click the first student, hold down the Shift key, and then click the last school.
    • To select multiple schools that are not listed together, hold down the Control key (Windows) or Command key (Macintosh), and then click the school names.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Choose a location to save the file. The name of the backup file is based on the name of the school and the date of the backup. If you back up multiple schools, the backup program creates individual backup files for each school.

To selectively restore school data from the backup files:

Important: Before restoring data for an individual school, we strongly recommend first backing up the entire district database by clicking Create Backup (do not hold down the Shift and Control keys).

  1. After backing up the district database, log in to the database utilities program (rnse_DBUtilities) with the district administrator password. If you do not remember the password, you can retrieve it using the District Admin utility.
  2. Once you are logged in to the database utilities, hold down Shift and Control keys and then click Restore Backup. The following prompt displays:
  3. This will restore a single school backup. Be sure to create a full district backup before continuing.
Please make sure no students or teachers are using the Read Naturally SE program.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Browse to the location of the backup file, select it, and click Open. A message displays when the data is successfully restored.
  6. Click OK.
  7. To verify that the data was restored correctly, log in as the administrator for the school whose data was restored. If you are currently logged in as an administrator for another school, choose the School tab, click Change, select the school, enter the administrator password for that school, and then click Save.
