How to back up SE Network Plus data (school and district licenses)
To back up SE Network Plus data:
- Open the /RNSENetworkPlus/RNSEServer folder. The default location for Windows is in the C:\Program Files folder. The default location for Mac OS X is in the Applications folder on the local hard drive.
- Launch the rnse_DBUtlities program, and log in using the SE administrator password. If you do not remember the password, you can retrieve it using the District Admin utility (district licenses) or Admin Password utility (school licenses).
- Choose the Backup/Restore tab, and then click Create Backup.
- Choose a location to save the backup file.
Notes:
- If you have not done so already, we highly recommend that you set up scheduled backups while in the database utilities. If you have Novell NetWare, you will most likely not be able to save the backup files on your NetWare server. You will have to save the backups on the computer hosting the SE server software or on another Windows or Mac OS X computer. If you save the backups on the SE server computer, be sure to save it to a location outside the directory structure of the SE server software. Once you set up the scheduled backups, verify that the backups are being created in the specified location. If your Windows scheduled backup fails, see the topic SE 2.1 scheduled backup to a network location fails for a possible solution.
- If you have an SE Network Plus district license and want to back up schools individually, see How to back up and restore individual school databases in a district license version of SE Network Plus.
