SE 2.1 scheduled backup to a network location fails

Operating System: Windows

SE Versions: SE 2.1 Network Plus

Symptoms:
A scheduled backup fails when it is set to write the backup file to a location on a network drive.

Solution:
The scheduled backup fails because the account used for the Scheduled Task service does not have write permission for the targeted network location. To change the account used for the Scheduled Task service, perform these steps:

Note: You must be a member of the Administrators group to set the following options.

  1. Choose Control Panel from the Windows Start menu. The Control Panel window opens.
  2. Double-click Scheduled Tasks. The Scheduled Task window opens.
  3. From the Advanced menu, choose AT Service Account. The AT Service Account Configuration window displays.
    AT Service Acount Configuration window
  4. Choose This Account, enter the domain name, user name, and password of the user account that you want to use to run scheduled tasks on this computer, and then click OK. The user account you specify must have the necessary permissions to run the scheduled tasks. For example, if you schedule programs that are to be run only by administrators, the user account you specify must be an administrator account and must have administrator access to network drives.
