Printing Graphs from Macintosh Computers
A web browser is used to view and print the RFBA and SE 2 reports, and the graphs in the report are displayed using the Macromedia Flash player. You may experience problems printing the graphs in the reports from Macintosh computers, depending upon the browser and Mac OS X version you are using.
Internet Explorer can print the graphs, but it is no longer supported for Macintosh computers. See the Microsoft web site for more information.
Safari, which is the default web browser for Mac OS X computers, will not print the graphs in Mac OS X versions before 10.4.7, because earlier versions of Safari do not automatically print Flash content. More information on this issue is available on the Adobe web site (look under the "Browser" heading).
If you use a Macintosh computer, you have the following options for printing the graphs in the RFBA and SE reports:
Option 1: Update Mac OS X to version 10.4.7 or higher (recommended option).
- Download and install the Mac OS 10.4.7 (or higher) update from the Apple Downloads page. This version fixes the issue of printing graphs in the reports.
- Update the Adobe Flash Player to the latest version available. You must uninstall your old version of Flash before you install the latest version. More information on how to do this is available on the Adobe web site.
Option 2: Print the graphs separately in Safari.
- Hold down the Control key and click the graph image.
- Choose Print from the pop-up menu.
Option 3: Copy the URL for the report to Internet Explorer and print it from there.
- In Safari, highlight the URL (address) for the report and copy it (Cmd-C).
- In Internet Explorer, paste the URL in the Address box (Cmd-V) and press Return.
- Print the report from Internet Explorer (Cmd-P).
Option 4: Take a screen capture of the report with shortcut keys and then print the screen capture.
- Press Cmd-Shift-4.
- Drag the cross-hairs over the area of the report you want to capture. When you release the mouse, the screen capture is saved to the desktop as an image named Picture <n>.
- Double-click the image file to open it. To print it, press Cmd-P.
Option 5: Take a screen capture of the report with the Grab utility and print the screen capture.
- Double-click the Grab icon in the \Applications\Utilities folder.
- From the Capture menu, choose Selection.
- Drag a box over the area of the report you want to capture. When you release the mouse, the screen capture is displayed in a window.
- To print the screen capture, press Cmd-P.
Option 6: Use Internet Explorer as your default browser (not recommended).
If you use Internet Explorer as your default browser, the reports you generate in RFBA or SE will launch directly in Internet Explorer, so this saves you from having to copy the report URL as described in Option 2. However, because Internet Explorer is no longer supported for Macintosh computers, this could open your computer to potential security risks.
To make Internet Explorer your default browser:
- From Safari, choose Preferences from the Safari menu.
- Choose Internet Explorer as your default web browser.
