Utility addresses issues with the SE v2.1.x client installer on Mac OS 10.7.x (Lion) servers

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.7.x or higher

SE Versions: SE v2.1.x Network Plus

Problem:
Permissions have been tightened in Mac OS 10.7 for the <Hard Drive>/Library/ Preferences folder. As a result, the Read Naturally SE v2.1.x client installer cannot create the necessary preference file (<Hard Drive>/Library/Preferences/ReadNaturally/ RNSEPrefs_np), which tells the SE client software what IP address and port number to access to connect to the SE server software.

Solution:
Read Naturally is providing the following utility to address this issue:

pointer OSX_PreferenceRepairUtility.zip

Download and unzip this file, and place the unzipped program in the following folder on the SE server: <Hard Drive>/Applications/RNSEServerNetPlus/RNSE_Client_Install

When you run this program from the RNSE_Client_Install folder, it creates the necessary items within the <Hard Drive>Library/Preferences folder and automatically launches the InstallWkstn_Mac-X application.

If your SE client software is already installed, you can run this utility individually for each client workstation, and it will create the necessary items within the <Hard Drive>/ Library/Preferences folder.

Note: You may also want to consider transitioning to Read Live, a web-based version of the Read Naturally software. Because Read Live is web-based, it can avoid many operating system compatibility issues.
