How to prevent a server computer from going into a sleep state

Energy saver or power settings can cause the computer hosting the SE server software to go into a sleep state after a period of time. You can avoid this by changing the server's power settings.

To change the power settings on a Mac OS X computer:

  1. Choose System Preferences from the apple menu.
  2. Click Energy Saver.
  3. Under Put the server to sleep when it is inactive for, slide the control to Never.
  4. Close the Energy Saver window.

To change the power settings on a Windows computer:

  1. Select Start > Control Panel and then double-click Power Options.
  2. From the Power Schemes tab, set System standby and System hibernates to Never.
  3. Click OK.
