How to make sure the server IP address in the SE client's preference file matches the IP address in the Windows configuration
The IP address specified in the SE client's preferences file must match the actual IP address of the SE server computer. Otherwise, errors will occur and the SE clients will be unable to access the SE server component.
To make sure the server IP address in the preferences file matches the IP address in the Windows configuration:
- Look up the IP address of the Windows server computer by performing these steps:
- From the Windows server computer, open a Command Prompt window (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt).
- Type ipconfig/all and press Enter to display the server's IP configuration information.
- Write down the server's IP address.
- Type exit and press Enter to close the Command Prompt window.
- Verify that the server IP address is set correctly in the SE client's preferences file by performing these steps:
- From the client computer, open the folder My Computer\Local Disk (C:)\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ReadNaturally. (If you do not see the Application Data folder, select Folder Options from the Tools menu, select the View tab, select Show hidden files and folders under Advanced Settings, and then click OK.)
- Open the RNSEPrefs in a text editor such as Notepad (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad).
- Change the server IP address to match the IP address you wrote down in step 1.
- Save and close the RNSEPrefs file.
