How to change the drive letter for the CD drive in the RNSEPrefs file
For Windows stand-alone installations, the CD drive must be assigned drive letter D: in order for SE to access the stories on the level CDs. If the CD drive has a drive letter other than D:, you must change the drive letter designation in the RNSEPrefs file.
To change the CD drive letter designation on Windows computers:
- Open the folder containing the RNSE Prefs folder:
- On Windows 2000 and XP computers, the RNSEPrefs file is in the
following folder:
My Computer\Local Disk (C:)\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ReadNaturally. (If you do not see the Application Data folder, select Folder Options from the Tools menu, select the View tab, select Show hidden files and folders under Advanced Settings, and click OK.) - On Windows 98SE and ME computers, the RNSEPrefs file is in the
following folder:
My Computer\Local Disk (C:)\Windows\Temp \ReadNaturally - As a precaution, make a copy of the RNSEPrefs file before you continue.
- Right-click RNSEPrefs and select Copy.
- Go to the desktop of your computer, right-click in an empty area, and select Paste.
- Open the original RNSEPrefs file (located in the ReadNaturally folder) with Notepad. (Right-click the file, choose Open, select Notepad, and click OK.)
- Locate the following information in the RNSEPrefs file:
[Stories]
Path=D:/StoryFiles (or Path=False:/StoryFiles)
- Change D: (or False:) to the drive letter assigned to the CD drive on your computer (for example, E:).
- Save and close the RNSEPrefs file.
