Students using Read Naturally Live receive a "connection lost" or "delay" message

Problem:
Students have problems connecting to Read Live website and may receive a "delay" message or the following "connection lost" message:

Your internet connection has been lost. Please tell your teacher.

Solution:
Contact your information technology department, and ask them to check the following:

  • Your school must have full access to the following IP address:
         174.129.34.231
If your school prioritizes Internet traffic for different websites, consider increasing the priority for this IP address.
  • If you are using more than one Internet Service Provider (ISP), then we recommend that you direct all traffic from the above IP address to go through just one of your ISPs.
  • Your school must have access to the following website and file:
        tourdeflex.adobe.com/ping.html
When a student is logged in to Read Naturally Live, the program pings this website every second. If there is no response 10 times in a row, the student receives the "connection lost" message. (The IP address of this website may change, but the domain name will always remain the same.)
  • MP3 files must not be blocked. MP3 files are used for the audio support in Read Naturally Live.

Instead of accessing Read Live using an IP address, you could also just use the unique web address that was assigned to your site. This web address is specified in your activation letter and follows this pattern:

readlive.readnaturally.com/<unique name>
