How to delete the rn.ind file
Deleting the rn.ind file resolves certain errors on Windows servers.
To delete the rn.ind file on Windows servers:
- Stop the RNSEServer service:
- Choose Run from the Start menu, type services.msc, and click OK. Right-click the RNSEServer service, and choose Stop. Minimize the Services window.
- If the RNSEServer service does not shut down properly, then open Task Manager, choose the Processes tab, select rnseserver.exe, and click End Process.
- In Windows XP or 2003 Server, if you are still unable to end the RNSEServer process, open a Command prompt, type taskkill /F /IM rnseserver.exe and press the Enter key.
- In Windows 2000, if you are still unable to end the RNSEServer process, you must use the kill command, which is not installed by default. To install the kill command, install the Support Tools from the Windows 2000 OS CD (CD-ROM:\Support\Tools\setup.exe). Then, to kill the RNSEServer process, open a Command prompt, type kill -f rnseserver and press the Enter key.
- Delete the rn.ind file:
- Go to the following folder: C:\Program Files\RNSEServer\RNSEServer\Databases\.
- Delete the rn.ind file. A new one is created the next time you log in.
- Maximize the Services window, right-click the RNSEServer service, and choose Start.
- Try logging in in Read Naturally.
