How do I add levels to Read Naturally SE version 1.6 when it's already installed?

Stand-alone Version
To add levels to a stand-alone installation of Read Naturally SE version 1.6:

  1. Place the Read Naturally Installation Disc into the CD-ROM drive.
    • On Windows computers, the installation should start automatically.
    • If it does not or if you are using a Macintosh computer, locate the Install icon on the CD and double-click it.
  2. In the Welcome window, click Next.
  3. In the License Number window, enter the license number for the level you want to add and click Next. A message tells you this will add the new level without reinstalling all files.
  4. Click Next again. A message tells you the new level has been added successfully.
  5. To add more levels, click Next and repeat steps 3 and 4. If there are no more levels to add, click Exit.
  6. Start the Teacher Management System and assign a student to the new levels.
  7. Insert the CD for the new level into the CD-ROM drive. The assigned student can now use the new levels.

Network Version
To add levels to a network installation of Read Naturally SE version 1.6:

  1. Place the Read Naturally Installation Disc into the CD-ROM drive of a workstation that already has the Read Naturally SE client software installed on it.
    • On Windows computers, the installation should start automatically.
    • If it does not or if you are using a Macintosh computer, locate the Install icon on the CD and double-click it.
  2. In the Welcome window, click Next.
  3. In the License Number window, enter the license number for the level you want to add and click Next. A message tells you this will add the new level without reinstalling all files.
  4. Click Next again. A message tells you the new level has been added successfully.
  5. To add more levels, click Next and repeat steps 3 and 4. If there are no more levels to add, click Exit.
  6. Copy the new stories to the server by performing these steps:
    1. Place a CD for one of the new levels into the CD-ROM drive.
    2. Locate the RN Server folder on your server, open it, and double-click the FileCopy icon.
    3. Follow the instructions to copy the stories from the CD to the server.
    4. To copy stories for more levels, repeat steps a through c.

Note: If you are using Read Naturally SE in a cross-platform environment (Mac and Windows), you will need to copy the new levels (step 6) from both a Mac and Windows workstation.

  1. Start the Teacher Management System and assign a student to the new levels. The assigned student can now use the new levels.
