Study Type Description
Original Study, Minneapolis, MN Treatment Group / Control Group After seven weeks, third-grade special education students using the Read Naturally strategy improved their reading fluency by an average of 2.35 words per week. The control group of Title I students gained an average of 1.23 words per week.
University of Minnesota Study, Minneapolis, MN Treatment Group / Randomized Control Group In this study led by Theodore Christ, Ph.D., an associate professor in the University of Minnesota’s Department of Educational Psychology, students using Read Naturally Software Edition had 39 percent greater gains in fluency than students in a control group. 
RTI Study of Fourth-Grade Students in Massachusetts Treatment Group / Matched Control Group This study by two university researchers demonstrated that students who received Read Naturally instruction as a supplementary intervention made substantially greater gains in fluency, accuracy, and rate than students in a matched control group.
Four-School Study, Minneapolis, MN Treatment Group / Matched Control Group In this study, students at four Minneapolis schools who received Read Naturally instruction had improved performance on state-wide tests at statistically significant levels, and a larger proportion met proficiency standards for No Child Left Behind (NCLB) compared to students in a matched control group. 
"Throwing Sixth Graders a Lifeline" Treatment Group / Control Group In this study led by Anne Graves of San Diego State University, students who received a combined intervention package of Read Naturally, Corrective Reading or Rewards, and Daybrook made statistically significant gains in oral reading fluency and passage comprehension compared to a control group.
Special Education Students, Huron County, MI Treatment Group / Control Group Special education students in Huron County, MI, who received Read Naturally instruction had greater gains in fluency and comprehension than special education students who did not receive Read Naturally instruction.
First-Grade Students, South Forsyth County, GA Treatment Group / Control Group This study in South Forsyth County, GA, by Christy Mesa of Piedmont College showed that first graders using Read Naturally Software Edition had significantly greater gains in fluency and comprehension than a control group who did not use Read Naturally.

Third-Grade Students, Southern California Treatment Group / Matched Control Group In this study by Stacy Wright, a Masters in Education student at California State University San Marcos, students using Read Naturally Software Edition had greater gains in fluency and comprehension than students in a matched control group.
Second-Grade Students, Elk River, MN  Treatment Group / Control Group Over 12 weeks, second-grade students who spent 30 minutes a day using Read Naturally increased their reading fluency by an average of 92 percent, compared to a control group that made an average gain of 38 percent over the same period.
Word Warm-ups Studies
Study Type Description
Study 1: Word Warm-ups and Read Naturally Case Study Students in a regular fourth-grade classroom and in a fourth-grade reading lab who used Word Warm-ups combined with Read Naturally’s fluency program showed greater gains in word recognition and fluency than students in a control group.
Study 2: Word Warm-ups and Read Naturally Case Study Students in a fourth-grade reading lab who worked in Word Warm-ups 2 and 3 in combination with Read Naturally Masters Edition or Take Aim at Vocabulary displayed greater gains in phonics skills and fluency than students in a control group.
Take Aim at Vocabulary Studies
Study Type Description
Study 1: Minneapolis, MN Control Group Study Students who worked in the Take Aim curriculum for 12 weeks made significantly greater gains in vocabulary than students in a control group and demonstrated that they retained their gains in a delayed posttest. 
Study 2: Minneapolis, MN Control Group Study Students from two fourth-grade classrooms who worked in the Take Aim curriculum for 12 weeks made significantly greater gains in vocabulary than students in a control group and demonstrated that they retained their gains in a delayed posttest. 
Study 3: Cumming, GA Case Study Students from a fourth-grade classroom who worked in the Take Aim curriculum for 12 weeks made significant gains in vocabulary and demonstrated that they retained their gains in a delayed posttest. 
Study 4: Hazen, ND Case Study A group of four fifth-grade Title I students  who worked in the Take Aim curriculum for 10 weeks made significant gains in vocabulary.
