Response to Intervention (RTI) Assessment Strategies Seminars: Educators as Physicians
Schools across the country are adopting a new way of serving students using a process called Response to Intervention (RTI). In RTI models, educators are asked to administer increasing numbers of reading assessments in order to screen, diagnose and monitor students.
What You Will Learn
This seminar is designed to help teachers, reading
specialists, reading coaches, supervisors, and principals
who are developing RTI assessment plans
take a close look at:
- WHY various reading assessments are being used
- HOW to select and administer the most time efficient and useful assessments
- WHO should be assessed with each type of assessment
- Most importantly, how to USE the data to make key instructional decisions that can truly help provide the best possible reading instruction to all students
Just as physicians make health-care decisions using the best information available, educators must also use the best assessment tools to guide their decisions about students' academic health and well being. You will learn to use assessment tools that can help educators clearly document each student's history of intervention — a requirement in RTI implementations and useful for determining the next steps to take for struggling readers.
What You Will Receive
- The skills and tools you need to make key instructional decisions based on assessment results.
- A seminar packet with guidelines and charts that show how to use reading assessments effectively.
- Read Naturally assessment tools worth $234—a single-teacher license for Reading Fluency Benchmark Assessor, one grade level of Reading Fluency Progress Monitor, and Quick Phonics Screener.
- Read Naturally's white paper, Read Naturally Assessments and Programs in a Response to Intervention (RTI) Model.
- A chance to win a copy of one of Dr. Jan Hasbrouck's books, The Reading Coach: A How-To Manual for Success or Differentiated Instruction: Grouping for Success.
