I've noticed that the word lists in the phonics levels have changed to be shorter with numbers across the top as well as down the side. Why did they change? How should I use them?
We made the word lists shorter so that students can have a goal of reading them down and then across in one minute or less. We added the numbers across the top so that teachers will have an easier time counting how many words students are able to read in one minute.
